Shilpa Shetty was born on June 8th 1975 in Tamil Nadu. Shilpa Shetty, sizzling starlet, who has mesmerized audiences with her devastating , unconventional looks and stunning figure, almost worked with all top actors both south and North film Industries. Even the former Chief Election Commissioner of India named her as his favourite actress. Surprisingly, she did not live up to the sky-high expectations.

If you’ve seen Shilpa Shetty, you will agree that she has to be Bollywood’s reigning definition of ‘bombshell’.
She’s tall (5’10”), has a figure that other contemporaries can target while they work out, and gracefully carries herself a head taller than most heroines & heroes!
Baazigar was her debut film and though Shah Rukh threw her off the terrace pretty early in the film, people did notice the lissome lass.
It was her hip swaying `Chura ke dil mera…’ from Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994) that stole many hearts and thus came to fore a Shetty who was sexier than South Indian food.
Childhood
This Gemini girl, born on June 8 in Mumbai is basically from Karkal in Mangalore (Karnataka). Born to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty, Shilpa has a sister- Shamita who’s an actress as well. (With two such daughters… the Shetty’s magnificently completed their duty to the Bollywood and the nation.)
According to her mom, Shilpa was a naughty child and was called a `fightercock’ as she regularly (and mostly) fought with her sister. Her mom also acknowledges that she was a very bubbly and vivacious child. And her pet name is Manya, but mom calls her “Babucha” or “Honeybunch”!
The out and out Mumbai gal, schooled at the St. Anthony’s Girl’s Convent in Chembur, and then added to the glitz of the Commerce department at Podar College.
Shilpa’s supposed to be a very possessive person by nature and it mostly concerns her clothes, as she still has fights with her sister if Shamita wears any of her clothes!
About her
Shilpa has a great sense of humour and has the capacity to crack jokes on herself, and that too in more than 6 languages. Yes! She can speak Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tulu, Tamil, Telugu and can understand French. (Kya Samjhe? ) Rumoured to be quite short-tempered, she’s usually patient, but nobody can predict when she’ll snap.
Her favourite actors are Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, Jackie Chan and Tom Cruise and she dreams of working with Tom Cruise and Jackie Chan, who are her ultimate heroes. Before you smirk and say… Na na na na nare nare nare.. please understand that Daler Mehendi is one of her closest friends. So no sardar jokes with her but bolo tara ra ra instead!
In case you’ve wondered how she learned to move the way she does, the secret lies in the six years that she spent learning Bharat Natyam. Besides dancing, her hobbies include acting, cooking and working-out. (Note – she acts because it’s a hobby ;-)
Shilpa’s method of spending a holiday would be to wake up late, cook, watch movies, work out and spend time with the family. Food wise, she was totally into Italian and Chinese cuisine, but today Chinese food rules for her and “I can eat Chinese food for breakfast, lunch and dinner!” she claims. (So if you are a good Chinese cook, you can have her undivided attention 3 times a day.)

Style Statement : "Tattoos! I love them, I think they are the coolest accessory. Sometime ago, designer Anna Singh had done tattoos all over my body, and I think it looked pretty nice. Unfortunately, I can't have a permanent tattoo! I wear a lot of Anna Singh, Manish Malhotra and Rajesh Pratap Singh. I like wearing gowns and saris for formal occasions. When I am relaxing at home it's jeans and kurtas for me."

Manish Malhotra, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Anna Singh: "Manish and Rajesh are such opposites. Manish's clothes are soft and pastels and Rajesh's are in your face and funky. I like to wear jackets and shirts from Rajesh. From Manish, I like more ethnic outfits.
As for Anna, I wear whatever she makes for me; she is not only a good friend but also a fantastic designer. I love the jewellery that she designs."
